The Smugglers Inn is in a hamlet called Little Carloggas, at the top of the village of St Mawgan. We are a couple of miles from Watergate Bay with it's long sandy beach, home of the Jamie Oliver inspired Fifteen Cornwall Restaurant, the Phoenix Bar, Watergate Bay's Beach Hut and Extreme Academy. The Watergate Bay Hotel is also nearby, which houses the Brasserie Restaurant. So that sorts out the fine dining, without travelling far. The evening will likely bring a fabulous sunset (weather permitting!). Watergate Bay Beach hosts many events, such as Surf Competitions, Zapcats, International Polo, Music Evenings, Weddings. Maybe you could catch one of these during your holiday, or make this the venue for your event. There are many festivals in and around The Smugglers Inn area, including the Obby Oss at Padstow, Flora Day at Falmouth, the Boardmasters Music Festival, high on the cliffs above Watergate Beach, local steam rallies like the ones at St Mawgan, Padstow and Fraddon, and of course the many festivals at Trevelgue including Run to the Sun, The Riviera Run, The Morgan Rally, The Vespa Rally to name but a few. Hendra Holiday Park stages many events also. We are close to air (Newquay Cornwall Airport at St Mawgan), rail (Newquay Town Centre) and bus links (the main route between Newquay and Padstow is on the doorstep), ... just right for touring the many towns, villages, beaches and hamlets of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, the perfect holiday destination. The location is one of the most sought after in Cornwall, with beautiful local scenery and gardens, a host of local activities and restaurants, and within easy reach of Newquay and Padstow. Once on the cliff path, you will be taking in stunning views of the Cornish coastline, including the famous Bedruthan Steps. If its holiday nightlife you're after, the bus stop is very close to take you into Newquay town, with a vast variety of bars, clubs and restaurants, with global cuisine in the form of Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Cantonese, Italian, Pizzas, Kebabs, Burgers, and proper Fish & Chips. There are pool halls, sports bars, quiet restaurants and bistros, large pubs/clubs, to suit everyone. There are plenty of taxis to get you back to The Smugglers Inn. During the day you can relax and sample the local cuisine, build sandcastles in the miles of golden sand at Watergate Bay, shop at Gone Feral (next to The Phoenix Bar) or the Beach Shop, or maybe try some surfing or extreme sports with Watergate Bay Extreme Academy just off the beach. Mawgan Porth, also 2 miles away, and on the bus route, has a mini golf, crazy golf, shop, and places to eat. Again, when the tide is out there is a large sandy beach for you to enjoy. The beaches are clean, and safe thanks to the lifeguards, who will show you the safest place to surf and bathe. There is plenty of room for everyone. The hotel does not take pets I'm afraid, except Guide Dogs and Service Dogs. Check out the links on the left for some more information, maps and pictures.
